KANNUR: A master trainer of the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) has been arrested. The arrested person has been identified as Bhimantavida Jaffer. He has been taken into the custody of the NIA. Jafar, who was absconding, was caught in a joint operation by the NIA and the anti-terrorist squad of the Kerala Police in Kannur.
The NIA found that Jaffer had been providing weapons training to the PFI squads. Bhimantavita Jafar was arrested by the NIA in a case of planning terrorist attacks in various places and by targeting various individuals to bring up Islamic rule in Kerala by 2047.
Jaffer is the 59th accused to be arrested in the case against which 60 people have been charged. The NIA had earlier stated that it had found evidence that PFI formed and trained hit squads in Kerala and other states to kill members and leaders of various communities.
